The Aquatic Restoration Program provides a unique opportunity to educate and reach out to the public on environmental issues, especially on how on manage stormwater, improve water quality, and conserve soil and plants. Each of the projects completed under the program is an outdoor classroom, demonstrating how these projects can be implemented by residents at home, consultants for client projects, and municipal officials on publicly owned lands and as part of municipal projects.

County and municipal staffs and volunteers have worked together to better maintain the projects once they are complete and have enlisted the support of high school students and others to help plant perennials, shrubs and trees. Some projects have been the focus of educational workshops on techniques in stormwater and landscape management as well as on ecology and flood mitigation.  For more information on how you might be able to assist the program, please contact Nicole Laible at (914) 995-4423 or .
