Westchester’s foreign-born population accounts for a little more than a quarter—25.4%—of the total county population. The foreign-born make up a larger portion of the population in some municipalities than others, with Port Chester (45%) and Elmsford (42%) having the largest proportions while Pound Ridge (9%) and Hastings-on-Hudson (11%) have the smallest. The foreign-born population is close to evenly split between naturalized US citizens (13%) and non-citizens (12.4%). The most common countries of origin for the foreign-born are Mexico (accounting for 9.1% of the foreign-born), Dominican Republic (8.8%), Jamaica (7.6%), and Ecuador (7.2%).
