Sheldrake River At Columbus Park MamaroneckYears of urbanization led to erosion and loss of wildlife habitat along the Sheldrake River in Mamaroneck Village. This project substantially re-vegetated the river banks. It also reinforced bridge pilings with stonework to prevent soil erosion during high water. A reconstructed weir added ripples to the river. Temporary fencing protected newly planted vegetation from foraging waterfowl. The vegetation permanently stabilized the banks and provided wildlife habitat.  It also filters stormwater running off nearby parking lots, roads and buildings.

To View The Site: The site is at Columbus Park on Mamaroneck Avenue in the Village of Rye Brook.
